Type 1 diabetes is a common concern, where the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Management involves insulin therapy, diet, and monitoring blood sugar levels. Pediatric endocrinologists also see cases of Type 2 diabetes, which is becoming more common in children due to increasing obesity rates.

These can range from growth hormone deficiencies to conditions like Turner syndrome or Achondroplasia. Pediatric endocrinologists assess abnormal growth patterns, either too fast or too slow, compared to typical developmental milestones.

This includes hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). These disorders can affect a child’s growth, development, and general well-being.
