Newborn Visits and Annual Health Reviews

Aloha Kids Clinic in South Bangalore advocates the significance of newborn visits and annual health reviews, integral in ensuring your child’s healthy growth and development. Our dedicated team of doctors and nurses provide these essential examinations to families across South Bangalore.

What does a Newborn visit or Annual health review entail?

A newborn visit or annual health review is crucial in monitoring a child or adolescent’s growth and health, especially during the formative years. These reviews include comprehensive physical examinations, enabling early identification and intervention of potential issues. At Aloha Kids Clinic, we offer holistic care from infancy to adolescence while educating parents on nurturing a healthy, loving child, and teaching children to adopt healthy habits. We adhere to the Indian Academy of Pediatrics’ (IAP) preventive healthcare recommendations.

Annual reviews involve assessing a baby’s development, growth (including weight, length, head circumference, and BMI), hearing, and screening for anemia. Vision tests are also conducted. For older children and adolescents, assessments include development, behavioral and mental health, school performance, physical measurements (weight, height, BMI), blood pressure (for children three and above), anemia, lead levels, vision, hearing, and cholesterol levels.

What information can you expect at an Annual health review?

Parents will receive insights on:

  • Sleep habits
  • Safety measures
  • Childhood diseases and vaccinations
  • Growth and development trends

We recommend parents prepare a list of questions before the review. The child’s development will be compared to established milestones to assess if it aligns with the expected schedule and identify any potential concerns. The doctor may also discuss additional topics like education, family relationships, overall well-being, and community services.

How should the visits be scheduled?

Initial well-child checkups are scheduled a few days post-discharge and again at two weeks. Subsequent visits should follow the below timeline:

  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 2 years (24 months)
  • 2 ½ years (30 months)
  • 3 years (36 months)

Annually thereafter until young adulthood

More frequent follow-ups may be scheduled if concerns arise or specialized treatment is required.
